Bev Lutz ICF membership provides incredible professional networking opportunities, professional and personal growth, and opportunities to explore my strengths as I volunteer in service of my profession.  My chapter really helps me stay current with coaching, thought leadership, and learn-n-earn (CEU’s) from professional development events.  But it’s the supportive coach-friends and collaborators who have made membership for me priceless. //s3.amazonaws.com/ClubExpressClubFiles/907122/graphics/BevLutz1_669008720.jpg

Irene Kelly

Being a member of ICF offers me the opportunity for certification by the industry professional standard bearer; being a member of ICF Minnesota connects me to my professional peers for networking and collaboration.  Membership in both establishes me as “credible” and provides me opportunities to learn and grow.

Understanding and Eliminating Implicit Bias and Microaggressions

Speakers:
Dr. Jo and Nirav Sheth
Date: Thursday, Oct 12, 2023
Time: 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM CST

Description:

This workshop focuses on fostering a deeper understanding of unconscious biases and microaggressions that can unconsciously shape our thoughts, actions, and perceptions and exploring the impact they can have on us as coaches and the clients we work with. We would love it if you would take the implicit assessment before attending the event here.

Overview:

Unconscious or implicit biases are deeply ingrained attitudes and stereotypes in our subconscious minds. They influence our judgment, decision-making, and interactions with others, often without our awareness. Microaggressions, on the other hand, are subtle, unintentional, and often repeated behaviors or comments that marginalize and demean individuals from diverse backgrounds. Both phenomena profoundly affect individuals and contribute to systemic inequalities in various spheres of life.

Objective:

This workshop is facilitated by Dr. Jo and Nirav Sheth. It is designed to create a safe and inclusive space where participants can explore their implicit biases and learn practical strategies to recognize, confront, and mitigate microaggressions. By raising awareness and fostering empathy, we aim to cultivate an environment that promotes respectful and equitable interactions in your coaching settings and other parts of your life.

Key Topics Covered include:

- Understanding Implicit Bias

- Identifying Microaggressions

- Exploring Personal Biases

- Responding to and Addressing Microaggressions and

- Fostering more inclusive environments
