Jason Jones ICF-MN fills my bucket!! I look forward to the in person meetings to connect with my tribe of coaches and enjoy the way of being only coaches embody. It energizes me. https://s3.amazonaws.com/ClubExpressClubFiles/907122/graphics/Jason_Jones_1992631113.jpg
Bev Lutz ICF membership provides incredible professional networking opportunities, professional and personal growth, and opportunities to explore my strengths as I volunteer in service of my profession.  My chapter really helps me stay current with coaching, thought leadership, and learn-n-earn (CEU’s) from professional development events.  But it’s the supportive coach-friends and collaborators who have made membership for me priceless. //s3.amazonaws.com/ClubExpressClubFiles/907122/graphics/BevLutz1_669008720.jpg

Irene Kelly

Being a member of ICF offers me the opportunity for certification by the industry professional standard bearer; being a member of ICF Minnesota connects me to my professional peers for networking and collaboration.  Membership in both establishes me as “credible” and provides me opportunities to learn and grow.

April President's Letter

What if?

During my walk last week, I came across some very colorful writing in chalk on the sidewalk. There was a big heart and the words “together apart”. As I continued my walk those words kept running through my mind and I realized they are right. In the last few weeks, as we face a tough situation and are asked to stay home, the more we are connecting in unique ways to stay together as families, friends and colleagues. The unknown space that we are navigating is referred to by William Bridges in his book “Managing Transitions”, as the “Neutral Zone” or what I call the “Fuzzy Zone”. As we find ourselves in this space, we try to find things to stabilize ourselves or control what is happening when in fact we can’t control everything. What we can do is focus on what we can control and how we show up.

As I was talking to a friend the other day, we both agreed, this feels like a major reboot of the entire world. When your computer is acting up typically, we go to “reboot” to see if it will take care of or fix what ever was out of alignment. We hope that by rebooting it will clear everything out and we will be back to normal. I find it interesting that we are all experiencing a “new normal” or a “reboot” and realizing that we have time that we did not have before. We were busy managing life and all the necessary things that needed to be done or so we thought. Is it possible that we now can take a step back and look at our alignment?

It became even more clear that the lens we use to view the situation and life in general, if shifted, can begin to provide a view of the good even when things are tough. Changing the lens that we use can help us see the possibilities vs. the challenge. I call it the “what if” model:

• What if through this challenge we come out with a new way of thinking and doing?

• What if we find a tsunami of creativity that we never knew we had?

• What if we uncover something that will propel everyone to a higher level of understanding and caring?

• What if we view this as “We get to stay home vs we have to stay home” and we create a new or additional approach to providing our coaching services?

As we face the fear of the unknown in this crazy time take time to pause and reflect on how you have responded to fear before. There is no right or wrong way, each of us deal and handle things differently. Tune in to your feelings and create space to acknowledge those feelings and embrace them judgement free. Trust yourself and know that you have what it takes no matter what path you choose. Turn your pain into power and energy. Enjoy the laughter moments and the stories you hear and share. Take time to care for yourself. Look with anticipation of what your new normal could be and “what If” that means a new awakening personally and professionally.

Sincerely,

Deb Johnson
