Meet the Coach withZihui Lu
Hello! My name is Zihui Lu. You can also call me Zoe.
I’m originally from China, and received my PhD degree in psychology from the University of Toronto.
1. What brought you to coaching?
I moved to Minnesota in 2014 with my husband and my son, who was only 6 months old back then. I was a stay-at-home mom. Although I enjoyed being with my baby a lot, I felt something was missing. Who was I besides being a wife and a mother? How could I make an impact on the world?
In 2015 I learned about life coaching. The profession sounded both familiar and new to me. It was familiar because I was a psychotherapist before. But coaches work with people who are resourceful and help people to move to action, which sounded really exciting. So, I received my coach training from MentorCoach, and became a coach.
2. Tell us about your coaching practice.
My personal experience as a mom helped me realize what a hard job being a mom is. Yes, we have washing machines nowadays. But we also need to balance career, family, and self-care, which is usually not easy. We also need to maintain a good relationship with our partner, discipline kids with love, and manage our emotions. A lot of moms can really use some professional help from a coach.
Therefore, I have worked with more than 150 women so far, most of whom are moms. I coach both in Chinese and English.
3. What do you love about your coaching work?
I really enjoy my coaching work because I like the deep connection with my clients. I love to see my clients’ improvement in their marriage, parenting, personal growth, and career.
My mission is to make a positive impact on people’s lives, and two of my core values are Love and Authenticity. I’m grateful that my coaching work aligns with my mission and core values!
